It’s official.
Move over celery juice, chia seeds, fasting, detox teas that give you diarrhea, keto, paleo, vegan, colonics, or ice baths.
Move over Wim Hof, tapping, breathwork, weird facials, and essential oils.
Move over HIIT, crossfit, yoga, pilates, barre, or BeachBody.
Just have a wank.
Seriously, it’s Vogue official, announced in Superdrug, and all over the internet.
Self pleasuring, female pleasure, and sexual wellness are the hottest wellness trends for 2021.
WAHAY!
Ok I am being crude and there is so much more to it than that- from understanding your anatomy, to your response cycles, body safe materials, de-shaming, fantasies, and the pelvic floor.
Now the market is being flooded with ever fancier lubes, balms, and toys in tasteful packaging so that sex is rebranded as something that nice ladies can do again.
And I also predict that as with the rest of the world of wellness, there will be, ahem, interesting products with dubious benefits being touted too.
(I personally do not recommend using crystal products, but opinion is divided, so you make the choice that is right for you)
But still: sex is back! Orgasms are back! All hail the vibrator!
I’ve been saying for a long time that if you’re not working with your sexuality and pleasure, you’re missing out a huge chunk.
The world of holistic practices, therapy, and medicine, has long neglected sex and sexuality- leaving what sexologists call:
“The donut hole approach”
Professionals are either not properly trained and knowledgable, or just not comfortable working with sexuality in a way that is not pathologizing or shaming, or with the right boundaries in place where anything goes and people get hurt.
And this causes so much harm.
When I trained I was schooled in this foundational principle that I and something I fully embody:
Your sexuality is your birthright.
It is a divine part of you, just as much as your mind, thoughts, beliefs, emotions, and spirit.
How much does this ring true for you?
Does it resonate with you?
If not, what thoughts and feelings come up?
Dirty? Wrong? Shameful? Bad?
I understand. Nobody was brought up in a sex positive culture, we have all received unhealthy and unhelpful messages that play out today.
I want to see a world where our sexuality is integrated into our lives, relationships, culture, and politics, in a way where it is neither denigrated or objectified.
If you want to make your sexuality, pleasure, and relationships a real priority for you this year, then why don’t you come to the live replay of Your 2021 Sex and Relationships Roadmap?
