What TF is going on with the energy right now??
My energy has been low the past week, and rather than push against it, I’m surrendering.
I’m seeing this with my clients, with the women on my program, with friends and colleagues, seriously, whaaaaat?
It’s October tomorrow, and it feels almost like the world is holding it’s breath. Or maybe it’s just slumped on the sofa, in a huff?
Something that my business coach quoted on a call yesterday- that was quoted to her by somebody else really stuck with me:
We must fight to hold onto our optimism
And I feel that.
When you are being bombarded with terrible news every day, when the winter nights are drawing in, when nobody can agree on whether to wear masks (do check out my hilarious Instagram Reel), when the future for women’s rights and equality is under threat in the US (RIP Ruth Bader Ginsburg) and when there is still no justice for Black folk who are murdered by the police (#justiceforbreonnataylor), it feels kind of silly to stay positive, doesn’t it?
Except it isn’t.
Your physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, and sexual health are not luxuries or, “nice things to have”, they are essential.
I’ve found the past few weeks particularly testing for all sorts of reasons, so I want to share what I’ve found helpful that keeps me sane and centered:
1. Slow the fuck down regularly. Stop. Take a breath. Get up and put your phone down. Stand outside and look at the sun. Go for a walk. There is very little that can’t be put off or the world will end.
2. Move regularly. Dance, shake, walk, run, or anything else that works for you. I love to stop during the day and have a shake, dance, and stretch.
3. Get community. Go to virtual meetups, do online classes, go for coffees, go for walks, chat to friends on the phone.
4. Practise regular re-orienting during the day and focus on something pleasurable.
5. Mindfulness is a lifesaver. Or any other kind of meditation, I’m loving the app Synctuition right now.
6. Get physical support- go for a massage, an energy healing, a facial, a float, a sauna, a manicure, or anything else. If you live in Brighton, I highly recommend The Float Spa.
7. Set boundaries with social media. I deleted the Facebook app from my phone and installed a newsfeed eradicator on my laptop so I am more mindful with my time.
8. Make time to self pleasure and fill up your erotic cup. Check out my blog post on why I love erotica so much.
9. If you have a partner, make more time to connect with them and have physical touch. Cuddles, spooning, massage, whatever works for you. Take away the notion that physical touch always has to lead to sex, just spend time being physically close.
10. Watch more comedy. It’s easy and instantly lifts your mood. I love watching standup comedians and SNL sketches on YouTube, and I also love Laura Clery.
Chin up, buttercup. This will pass.
Pop your feet up and have a cuppa with a good book. If you have a cat, dog, or some other fluffy creature, cuddle that too.
If you need more support to become sexually empowered and finally get out of your head, I’ve opened up 5 clarity calls. It’s a 45 minute call where we’ll get to the root of what’s blocking you and what you need to do to have the sex life and relationship you really want.
Here’s what one of my lovely former clients said:
“After seeing Lucy, our sex life which had well and truly hit a rut, slowly has started to bloom again. Increased moments of intimacy and connection led to episodes of foreplay the like of which we hadn’t had in years. And eventually this has led to a renewed sex life and desire for each other. This in itself has been great, but it is the daily small moments which mean just as much if not more. The hand holding, the affection and warmth is back in our relationship and I thank you greatly for helping us to find it again!”
